Since 2010 BLC has supported the families and community of Windom Community School. We understand the needs of working families, and strive to create an environment where your children can strive, have fun, be safe and grow into strong leaders and friends. Our bicultural staff brings many perspectives and experiences to our program, empowering students to become responsible and caring to the world and community around them. We love to have fun, celebrate, and explore.
One of the things that makes our program special is our bilingual approach to before and after school care. While English is the primary language at Windom, Spanish is woven into our daily routines—through greetings, common questions, repetition, and conversations.
This immersive environment helps children naturally pick up new words and phrases, strengthening their ability to communicate and connect in two languages. With lots of encouragement and support, students begin to see being bilingual is not just as a skill—but as a superpower!
Let us know how we can support your students academically! Bilingual storytelling and reading are woven into our daily routine, encouraging a love for reading and stories in both languages. Our goal is to make learning engaging, by using creative writing prompts, listening to our favorite songs, and exploring topics that excite our group. Our approach is flexible, adapting to the interests and needs of our individual kiddos.
Keeping students engaged, active and having fun is a key part of our daily routine. We build community and strong friendships through movement in games, teambuilding, and sports matches. As well as using the school’s gym and playground to mix up the physical activity options!
Art is another key part of our program that we use to promote creativity, confidence and self expression, through music, dance, acting and many more mediums!
Our pogram is broken down into four sessions based on the seasons: Fall, Spring, Summer and Winter. Register before the deadline stated on our news and flyers. Ask about registering in the middle of a session, if there is room available we can make arrangements!
On top of the before and after school, we also offer one hour after school classes, available to be registered separately from our regular programming. These classes are aimed to create a safe space where the children can explore and discover talents and interests that grow their confidence, and teach valuable skills and lessons.
7:30 - 9:30 AM Monday - Friday
Start your morning with an energizing atmosphere full of fun, creativity, exploration, friendship and responsibility.
When kids arrive, they’ll find engaging activities ready to go! Our mornings include outdoor play, music, reading, dancing, and sometimes even sampling cultural foods! Every day is different, with some days full of creative writing, free art, stories, gym time, and much more, at the end everyone gets to choose their favorite activity to end the BLC day, and get ready to transition to the school day.
4:00 - 6:00PM Monday - Friday
End the day with friends and exploration with BLC! We start with snacks every day, and then enjoy fun activities that bring friendships together, challenge us, and teach us lessons through play. Our Bilingual staff help the kids absorb Spanish in fun and creative ways, without even realizing it!
Classes vary based on the season and interests of everyone. Our repeating sessions have been dance, theater, chess and STEM. Learn more below!
We also offer academic tutoring during the school year! We collaborate with the student’s teacher and support them in reaching the classroom’s academic goals. Register through our online Windom registration form and check the box for tutoring. There will be a choice to make these sessions bilingual, English or Spanish focused, as well as a choice for which subject to focus on.
Allow us at least one week to find a fitting instructor. We will contact you promptly.
We will be open for non-school days during the academic year for full day care or days we call “Release days”. These days are themed and will have a routine similar to our Summer camp, that is in line with the theme. We’ve had pajama day, music day, animals and more!
