Since 2010 BLC has supported the families and community of Windom Community School. We understand the needs of working families, and strive to create an environment where your children can strive, have fun, be safe and grow into strong leaders and friends. Our bicultural staff brings many perspectives and experiences to our program, empowering students to become responsible and caring to the world and community around them. We love to have fun, celebrate, and explore.
One of the things that makes our program special is our bilingual approach to before and after school care. While English is the primary language at Windom, Spanish will be woven into your child’s daily routines naturally. With lots of encouragement and support, your child will begin to see being bilingual is not just a skill —but as a superpower!
Your child will be supported academically with fun and exciting stories, games, and arts that make learning engaging and interactive- all great for starting and ending the day on a good and exciting note. They also have options of adding tutoring to their schedule with volunteer teachers that offer both English and Spanish support in Math, Writing, Language or Reading.
Your child will end the day with engaging, active and fun games, team building, and art activities around culture, confidence and creativity. They’ll take walks to nearby parks, dance, join sports matches, play table games, build strong friendships, meet new people, and express their unique personalities and gifts! We are all about building confidence and strong values through the arts!
Our program runs year-round and is divided into four sessions: Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer. Registration deadlines are listed on our flyers and news updates—but if you missed the deadline, don’t worry! Reach out and we’ll do our best to find a spot if space allows.
Your child will explore Latino cultures, guided by our diverse and passionate team who bring a wide range of lived and educational experiences. They’ll engage with traditional games from around the world, dive into stories and art from Mexico, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, and Indigenous communities, and celebrate Latin American festivities through music, dance, and delicious foods. These experiences not only broaden worldviews but will also help your child build appreciation for their own identities and the beauty in our differences!
At our Windom site, we also offer a variety of one-hour classes Monday through Friday around dance, STEM, and theater. These classes can be registered separately and are open to all, whether or not they are enrolled in the full after-school program. Check our our catalog to learn more!
7:30 - 9:30 AM Monday - Friday
Start your child’s morning with an energizing atmosphere full of fun, creativity, exploration, friendship and responsibility.
When they arrive, they’ll find engaging activities ready to go! Our mornings include outdoor play, music, reading, dancing, and sometimes even sampling cultural foods. Every day is different, with some days full of creative writing, free art, stories, gym time, and much more. At the end they’ll choose their favorite activity to end the BLC day, and get ready to transition to the school day.

End their day with friends and exploration with BLC! They’ll eat their snacks first thing every day, and enjoy fun activities that bring friendships together, challenge them, and teach them lessons through play.
